The date of April 14 has something special for India. The father of the father of Indian constitution, Bhimrao Ambedkar, was born April 14, 1891. India celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 every year. It is also known as Ambedkar Remembrance Day. The government has declared an official public holiday in India from 2015 on this day.
Dr, B.R Ambedkar was really a Hero and Messiah for backwards, schedule cast and unprivileged section of society. He fought for equality in his whole life span; that is why his birthday is also considered “Equality Day”. India has proposed United Nations demand that the Ambedkar Jayanti should be celebrated as International Equality Day.
In the year 1932, he signed a Poona Treaty with Madan Mohan Malaviya. As per the pact, the unprivileged and backward people of society will get a reservation. Due to the agreement, the backwards or unprivileged sections had got 148 seats rather than 71 seats.
In the year 1936, Ambedkar established Independent Labour Party. Dr B.R Ambedkar authored a book “Thoughts on Pakistan” After the Lahore resolution in 1940; the book described the idea and mentality of Pakistan
He converted to Buddhism in 1956 Ambedkar authored about the untouchables in his other book, “Who were the Shudras?”, Dr B.R Ambedkar was appointed as the Drafting Committee of Constituent Assembly chairman.
